About Me

CURRENT MISSION
live, witness beauty, play music, make art, dream and bring my dreams into being, inspire and be inspired, empower regenerative lifestyles, have fun!

ABOUT ME
I am a green man, I love the forest and all the wild places. I love music and art and authentic relating. I am a sober person – I get my highs from natural sources like nature, music, and improvised playfulness.

PHILOSOPHY
Cosmic jocularity. Sustainability is no longer enough. We must practice resurrection!

May the wonders of the world be revealed to me, and may the world retain its wonder!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel, I tell stories, I play music, I bring news of wonderful adventurous projects that I've seen in other places. I've hosted some awesome surfers, and encourage all manner of wandering minstrelsy, hoboing, and vagabondage ;-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

all positive! I have met many dreamers and builders of dreams, many wise and playful souls. I found the community I live in because of Couchsurfing connections.

Interests

art, music, life, love, nature, community, the universe...
I am dedicated to serving the Earth, and as I am on the bardic path, the way I do this is by helping to transform our culture.

I am studying the bardic path, storytelling, music, and magic… as well as trees, permaculture, forest gardening, mushrooms. I built and lived in a cabin in the woods for the past decade. I'd like to learn more about all aspects of natural building. i play guitar, banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, bodhran, washboard, and bones. I was once a fanatically devoted oil painter, and I will be again sometime.

For 20 years I have worked with kids, leading them on adventures of the imagination, and fostering experiential education through live action roleplaying. Finally taking some time for adventures of my own.

i'm always up for a chat about art, music, culture, stories, transitions, or anything that is imbued with the wonderous mysteries of life. maybe you just like to make noises, and faces? we can leave the words behind

Music, Movies, and Books

Folk music of many sorts – Irish trad, old time, folk songs & ballads, traditional music of other cultures – Indian Classical Music, west African kora music, Balinese and Javanese gamelan, John Fahey, Flann O'Brien, Jorge Louis Borges, Jan Svankmajer, Hafiz, Rumi, Kabir, Iron John, Elephant Revival, Hieronomous Bosch, J.S. Bach, S. Balachander, Toumani Diabate, Grant Gordy, Jayme Stone, Jody Stecher & Kate Brislin, Vermeer, Matthias Weischer, The Science of Sleep, pretty much any stop-motion animation, idiosyncratic geniuses...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i have seen the moon, a tree tunnel, a puddle in the sunset, fog on Cape Clear island, Ireland; the eyes of someone who cannot see me, moss, rotting logs, naked feet in a mud bath, bacteria that looks like the universe, a quiet yellow teacup, a babbling rocky mountain brook, perfectly peeling paint, a streetlight alone at night, and many other things which never cease to amaze me.

Teach, Learn, Share

live now. love your life, yourself, your insecurities. listen to that quiet voice inside you (the other one, not the voice in your head) and you'll hear what you need to know.

i am always learning more about permaculture, forest gardening, edible and medicinal plants & mushrooms, traditional skills, herbalism, ancestral skills. I am happy to share what I know and learn what you know.

I play guitar, banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, washboard, bodhran, and bones, and dabble in other things as well. I've been teaching music for about 6 years. Happy to play for you, jam with you, and/or give you a lesson

I have been visual artist in many mediums. I can teach you things the old masters knew about painting, or how to make your own walnut ink and squirrel tail brushes.
I'd love to learn more about luthiery and natural building. And I'd love to hear your stories!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can play tunes for you, I can tell you stories. I can take photos or video for you or your business. I can cook a mean curry, massage some sore shoulders, and I can tell you more than you wanted to know about the ancient cultural significance of the trees in your woods.
