CURRENT MISSION

Currently: in Bethel, Alaska as a certified legal intern in the public defender's office. My goal is to travel around Alaska this summer exploring the Alaskan bush!

ABOUT ME

I'm preparing for my last year of law school at NYU Law in New York City. I've bounced around a variety of interests in the past--writing, film, journalism... always with a social-justice bent. I've settled on public defense because the people who can't afford to pay lawyers are the minority populations being exploited by our criminal justice system. I love being an advocate and standing up for people that no one else wants to stand up for. Humanity and compassion exist even in society's outcasts and I've learned so much from my clients.

Interessen

I love reading, especially anything that takes me away from reality, so dystopian science-fiction, fantasy, historical fiction... I'm open to anything as long as it's a great story. Prefer happy endings since I see enough tragedy in real life.

I also write fiction, play piano, sing if I'm under enough pressure... Enjoy theatre, drink hot chocolate, and eating.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Lost in Translation, Big Hero 6, Up.

Books: Outlander, The Princess Bride, Le Petit Prince. I just read Red Rising and it was fantastic.

Music: confession: I like pop music. To be honest, I'm not into music the way many people are, but I like anything I can dance to. Or anything quiet.

I met a herd of sheep next to stream in a mountain forrest of Scotland. Then, I met the irate shepherd who was trying to get them to come home. Meeting the eyes of a sheep, at once innocent and very much aware that she was being naughty, from across the gurgling water...

I'm good at writing letters. Especially stern ones demanding things. :)

I also draw, toe-weave (it a way to make friendship bracelets), can say a few words in Japanese, and do origami (my specialty is the crane).

I would love to learn survival skills.
