About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Deanne - enjoy time with my family, especially our 8 year old grandniece and the 7 grandnephews!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We joined CS in June 2008 but didn't ever use it for hosting or staying. We moved from the San Francisco area back to Alaska about 3 years ago and may try hosting a little this year. We host a lot of friends all year so are pretty comfortable with having folks share our home.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Enjoying the web site and learning about other travelers.
Interests
I volunteer in my grandniece's 3rd grade classroom. Tony volunteers at the Anchorage Historical Museum. We both volunteer for the Anchorage Symphony League. Urban interests: art museums, local music, theater, historical sites. Rural interests: exploring parks, talking with locals about their interests and concerns. Global interests: preservation of cultural treasures, natural environments, improving the connections between people and parks, especially getting children connected to natural areas

Music, Movies, and Books
Deanne - love mysteries and science fiction. No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series is one of my favorites. Donna Leon series set in Venice, Elizabeth George set in England, Laurie King set in San Francisco (and her Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series) are high on my list.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Dog mushing for 4 winters in Denali National Park, as part of the park patrol. Included lots of running behind the sled, "scooping poop" daily at the kennels and at the cabins on the trail, taking care of the dogs first, then feeding the humans while on the trail. Hard work but amazingly exhilarating!
