ABOUT ME

Hello everybody. I live in Amsterdam Noord, a part of town very close to the city centre and to the beautiful countryside surrounding Amsterdam. It's a nice residential area, undiscovered by tourists so far, but there's not much too see anyway. However, there are a few nice restaurants/bars in Amsterdam Noord, and it's only ten minutes walking to the nice little ferry that will take you to Amsterdam Central Station. I share a house with my boyfriend Reinder and our cat Aagje. We also have a small vegetable garden nearby. Unfortunately, our house is quite small so we can't host any guests, but we can show you around in the weekends, or have a drink or a meal in the evenings.

PHILOSOPHY

We only have one life to live, so make the most of it. Spend your time doing things you like with people you love, enjoy life and try to make other people enjoy their lives too.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Whenever I am travelling, I try to get in touch with local people to find out about nice places in the town I am visiting, and maybe to spend some time together.

I had some Couchsurfing experiences so far, all of them very positive.

I'm interested in a lot of music, movies & books so it's hard to just name a few.
music: all time favourite are Radiohead and The Beatles, at the moment I also listen to Portishead, LCD soundsystem, Beirut, Rufus Wainwright, Spinvis (dutch band! very good!), Miles Davis, ....
movies: I recently saw Be kind, rewind. very funny. my favourites are Magnolia & La meglio gioventu.
At the moment I am reading The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs, a very interesting and well written book about urban planning. My favourite writers are Harry Mulisch, John Irving, Dave Eggers, ... I was also impressed by Saturday from Ian McEwan recently.

I am good at cooking and like to exchange tasty recipes for all sorts of food. I can try to teach some Dutch. I can tell something about architecture in Amsterdam. My boyfriend is very good in bicycle maintenance.
