I figure you can't really control other people's actions or the way they are so the only thing you can do is not be a jerk. I just try to be nice to everyone and find the funny side of things.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been to and organised a few meetings on the Gold Coast. I don't have my own place so I'm unable to host much, but I like to get involved with the social stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I volunteered at a wildlife refuge in Ostional in Costa Rica in 2008 where I helped monitor thousands of sea turtles arriving at the beach to lay their eggs. My work involved patrolling the beach at night to record numbers and where the turtles were coming in and measuring them. Among other things I also had to count and weigh the hatchlings escaping from their nests in the sand and help them to the water, shooing away dogs and vultures. There were some crazy moments sitting on the beach in the pitch black in the middle of the night surrounded by these huge turtles!

I used to be a surf instructor so I can give you a beginner's surf lesson (waves, not couches!) if we're anywhere near the ocean.
