Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To grow through life rather than be narrowed by it and try to help others do likewise while doing as much good and as little damage as possible.

ABOUT ME

I've written and taken photographs since I was a kid and I began traveling when I hit university and haven't stopped. Unless I'm living in a large city, I tend to get a bit stir-crazy when I'm back home as there's so much to experience, learn and do in this world.
I'm open-minded, curious and easy-going. I err way to the side of understanding rather than judging and distancing.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a gift, don't let any-one/thing deny it to any-one/thing.Better to die living than live dead. And, the age-old maxim: "Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you." And, to try to keep true to this as regards all living beings.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted and shown travelers around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a couple times and met-up with other Couchsurfers passing through--it's a wonderful way to share in the travel buzz while in-situ. Independent of CS, I've slept on many floors and couches while roaming and these experiences have only deepened my belief that most people are kind and good-willed.

Intereses

Hmmm, obviously traveling to new places and revisiting places I've been before; and, that goes for photography, video-documenting and writing. I read a fair bit, watch art-house films, documentaries and a few block-busters, go to theater occasionally and fitness-wise play tennis, hike and bike around a lot and do a bit of informal free-hand climbing and underwater exploring when I get a chance.
I keep up on current events and do so with a critical perspective; and, I enjoy studying and discussing social psychology and movements, belief and identity formation and the whys and hows of things.

Algo increíble que he hecho

With more luck than aggressive ambition, making of my passions my profession.
In specific, one thing that probably well got me on my way was volunteering as a Peace Witness in Chiapas, Mexico during the early days of the Zapatista Uprising.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I'd well be into sharing tales of life and travel and our outlooks on current events and where they're taking us and where we'd be better off in going.
As for show and tell, well, I've a load of photographs of travel destinations with an eye for the beautiful and the ugly.
Moreover, I've independently chased cultural and religious festivals around-the-world and have also assignment-shot a lot of live gigs and scene stuff as well as low-intensity conflict. All this means I'm pretty good at giving tutorials on photography and how to maneuver and shoot in various situations.
I write poetry and some fiction.
