ABOUT ME

"We" are me & my wife, Natalie, and now baby Henry too.
We love traveling, especially when we can spend enough time somewhere to get to know people properly. I love having friends in different parts of the world and feeling connected to cultures that take me totally beyond what I grew up familiar with.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that it's a complete toss-up whether any of us happens to be born in an affluent or a poor country, into a loving or a toxic family environment, etc. And if that's the case, then I think any of us lucky enough to have been born with access to good healthcare, education and opportunities should spend some time trying to help those who haven't been as fortunate, whether in our own community or abroad.
Travel is one of the surest ways to be reminded that everyone you meet has their own, very different beginnings, dreams, and way of seeing the world. I'm often most inspired by the stories of common people who make huge sacrifices simply to provide care for loved ones or the less fortunate around them.
And through travel I've also learned a lot from people who know how to relax and have a good time even if they don't have two pennies to rub together.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've just recently moved to Ottawa and are taking a break from hosting while we get used to the parenthood thing. Once things settle down, though, we're excited to host visitors and show them around!

Interests

Now that we have a kid, we pretty much try to sneak to the pub for a quick pint when we can get him to fall asleep during a walk... otherwise we're pretty much homebodies at the moment.
