Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention to arrive safely in a pretty & well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming 'Wow! What a ride!'

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have been hosting travellers we have met through climbing for years and have made some wonderful, lifelong friends, and had some fantastic adventures.. We have also found that when travelling, hanging out with the locals is one of the best and fastest ways to get to know a place and the people. So when we found out about CS we were pretty stoked! What a brilliant way to see the world and show off your little piece of it, while meeting loads of great people! We have been members since Aug 2008 and have already hosted some awesome people we are so pleased to have met.

Much the same as our life mission... Rock climbing, mtn biking, laughing, surfing (well, for Tim, for Debs it's more a case of trying not to drown!), tramping (ahem! Tramping in NZ is actually HIKING!! No funny ideas people! ;-), Tim skis I (debs) crash... We are into pretty much anything outdoors, and if we haven't tried it yet, we are keen to! We also love outdoor dance parties, and dancing in general. Hanging out with friends having a nice wine and a bbq features on our entertainment roster, as does mooching about at the beach with our big hairy dog and traveling as much as we can, even if it's just a trip up the coast in NZ!

Since joining we have added a wee sidekick to the team, our one year old (born 2015), S we don't get to be as adventurous as we once were (that won't last long though!), but we still love getting out for a bike/climb/surf and BEER!

Love all of them! We are big fans of New Zealand music and can bombard you with it if you like :-)

DnB and breaks are always close at hand. We like quite a bit of dub and NZ music, but we also enjoy going out for a bit of folk, blues or acoustic..

I guess if you want to learn stuff from us... We could teach you fire poi, some NZ local history,a bit about NZ wildlife and plants..
Tims pretty sorted with tramping/climbing/surfing etc spots around the country. We may even be able to help with a few of the 'locals secrets'..ie free hot pools and the best swimming holes and cheap/free campgrounds... Most of our tips will be on the South Island, that's where we are from, but we can sort you out with a bit on the NI too!
