About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Taking the first steps in a lifelong plan to see the world!

ABOUT ME

Hmmm...stripped of labels, who am I? Good question; undefinable answer. What can I say for myself aside from the interests listed elsewhere? I love solitude, the company of good friends, and talking to strangers. This last one sometimes concerns my family and baffles my friends, but how else do you meet new people and find out just how interesting humanity is?! My tastes in music are eclectic, and my tastes in food are adventurous.

PHILOSOPHY

Good Lord! I haven't given it enough thought to condense into a sentence, or even a paragraph! I do believe: (1)we're on this earth to enjoy the time we have here, work to live, don't live to work, (2) moderation in most things, (3)everyone has a purpose in life, maybe you know what yours is, maybe you haven't realized it yet, but it's there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am back in Riverside in temporary quarters, and my landlady/roommate called me crazy when I mentioned couchsurding.
There's not much of a nightlife in Riverside, but we're centrally located. The San Bernardino mountains w/Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear are maybe 15 miles up the freeway. The beaches are 45 minutes away and we're about 1 hour from the desert: Coachella (great music festival & shopping), Palm Springs, Joshua Tree National Park. Oh, the original McDonald's, the start of Route 66, and the Ontario Improv are all nearby.

Interests

Ummm...books, mostly fiction; music, mostly rock; the beach, watching the waves and frolicking in them; would love to try hiking, but scared of getting lost by myself; baking cookies and cooking for someone else; bowling, shooting pool, and dancing (i'm not really good, but I have fun); driving...cruising at 85 mph along empty roads, see where I end up; observing people's purchases at bookstores, adult shops, and the grocery store; rambling through museums; stopping at open houses, architecture in general; hanging out in coffeeshops sipping iced tea; ummm...did I mention the beach? Don't get out there enough.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dean Koontz, Jane Austen, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Madeleine L'Engle, 1984 & Fahrenheit 451. Quentin Tarantino films, chick flicks, superhero, end-of-the-world-phenomenon, good suspense, war/military drama and foreign/independent films. Rock that you can hear the lyrics to, latin rhythms that you can swing your hips to, country that points out the funny/little things in life we often overlook, piano & acoustic guitar.
