ABOUT ME

My generic letter of introduction (to be updated when i have time!)

Kia ora,

My name is Ryan Scott, I am 28 and come from Aotearoa New Zealand. I have two brothers and two sisters and, along with my parents, were all born and live in New Zealand. My interests include the love of the outdoors, cycling, rock climbing, snowboarding, fishing, motorcycling, architecture, urban design, photography and music. I have studied and worked within mechanical engineering but wish to carry out further studies in other disciplines in the future.

Since my childhood our family has been associated with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Although not religious myself, I have always carried the Quaker beliefs of peace, non-violence, equality and simple living close to my heart.

When I travel I aim to participate in in a form of internationalism beyond pre-packaged tours, guide books and hotel rooms in the hope of bringing more humanism to being a tourist through engaging with people in their homes, communities and everyday surroundings. In this way, I will be able gain a greater understanding of my fellow human beings and at the same time be able give some insight into where I come from.
