About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Driving west to east across Canada thissummer.July most likely

ABOUT ME

Enjoy meeting new people and find those who adventure out, exploring the world are the most interesting and are always welcome. Have hosted exchange students for many years and often host returnees and thier families. Some come and camp out in the small forest even. Thoreau was my inspiration in high school and a lifetime later, I have my "cabin" by the lake and the forest I had to plant myself in the '70's. Walden here is a peaceful respite from the world.

PHILOSOPHY

After adjusting to missing high school students, I have learned to be more like Thoreau and appreciate the world about me. I esp. enjoy adventure trips, usually a desert backroads trip in January and many mountain back road trips in the summer. coast trips in the fall and winter. I love life and sharing it with interesting others who also marvel at creation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Not sure I understand this, but have limitd tech ability. was disappointed when I searched for couches on a trip in November over eight Western states, but most likely my profile was inadequate, but also I did not find a listing of folks offering their homes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Traveled Europe when younger using youth hostels and still stay with friends when traveling and unfurl my sleeping bag. Have never been specifically in an unknown person's home to stay over and experience the locl life but want to do that on a X-Canada trip this summer and an East Coast drive this fall.

Interests

Interested in life in general, but prefer the outdoors and folks who are not die-hard environmentalists but who love the land and those who care for it. Enjoy adventures and sharing local sites, finding new ones. Animals are kinfolk here and quite an assortment. Also, lots of wildlife attracted to "Walden." Picnic area and canoes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Not much of a movie person but do enjoy one or two a year. LIke to read an occasional novel, the most recent a dog novel with lots of interesting facts.Love American literature. enjoy symphony and occasional plays. also belong to a Model A club and join in on tours. Looking forwar to Doig's new book about Montana.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One?! the most adventurous was sharing a trip with a yong friend to my place up in Idaho and we chose a long backroad which we found closed by snowbanks, but shoveled through, even went around some, and were the first into Jarbidge,NV, before the road normally becomes travelable over the July 4th wknd and we were there Memorial wknd. Townsfolks were amazed. Vast forests of aspen and mountains and no humans.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would enjoy sharing the ranch life and the areas around here, the flora and fauna, and I would want to feel a part of the hosting family, just as I would like them to share their interests, area and lives, enlarging our community of friends and contacts in this varied world.
