ABOUT ME

Recently graduated from Uni, I decided that I was nowhere near ready to settle down into a job (not that there are any at the moment...) and set off looking for adventure!

Started with the Mongol Rally, a 10,000 mile, 6 week drive for charity from London to Ulaan Baatar, in cars that weren't remotely suitable (the rules stipulated <500 sterling and <1litre engine size...)
After that I moved on to the Thai islands, did my PADI Advanced open water while seeing 3 whale sharks in 4 dives, and then headed up to Chiang Mai and the North. Over into Laos, down the Mekong by boat, got very drunk tubing in Laos, then moved on to Vietnam and all the way down the coast before heading to Bali, where I am now. Next stop Australia, then Fiji, Hawaai and the States before finishing my travels (and money!) skiing in Canada.

As for me, I'm friendly, outgoing, and incredibly laid back. I'm just as happy chilling out in a bar with a cold beer watching the world go by as I am driving along a desert road at somewhat inappropriate speeds, or swimming through a School of Barracuda 20 metres down.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Having only been introduced to CS a couple of weeks ago by some CS hosts I met diving in Vietnam, I'm really interested in getting to know and hopefully use the project. At the moment I'm looking to surf to meet some people and get local experiences that I otherwise wouldn't! Always feel uncomfortable taking things off people without reciprocating, so as soon as I'm back in the Uk I'll be looking to host as well! Also, while travelling, I'm more than willign to help out aroudn the house, and I'm no mean cook, even if I do say so myself!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None whatsoever, but looking to change that! That said, within 24 hours of signing up I had three offers to stay with peopl in Indonesia, and despite that in unfortunately can't take any of them up, it's certainly a friendly start!

Interests

Films, reading (even traveling I'm getting through far too many books!), evenings out, relaxing on beaches, diving, skiing, immersing myself in local culture, and jut generally meeting people, which has to be my favourite part of traveling!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching two competing lightning storms converge at night with my back to the mountains along the Kazak/Uzbek border was stunning, and there are hundreds of incidents like that from my travels that I love recalling.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always happy to share any of my skills that people think are worth knowing! I'm generally regarded as knowing a lot of random information about realtively useless stuff, but it does make me handy in a pub quiz team! I'm also, as mentioned above, handy in the kitchen - I love experimenting with recipes, and have perfected a few of my own that i'm always willing to share (or cook for hosts!)
