ABOUT ME

We're a newly married, multilingual pair of teachers. We love meeting people from everywhere and learning about other parts of the world. We spend most of our time writing papers, submitting PhD applications, and writing lesson plans, but we're always happy to stop for a good conversation with friends, neighbors, or (future) couch surfers.

We try to tread lightly on the earth. If you stay with us, we will let you feed the compost worms living under our sink.

PHILOSOPHY

We try to make the world better through education. Whether it's music, ESL, or underwater macrame, it is through teaching and learning that differences are made.

Aviv likes The Corrections and books about the Beatles. Parthy likes anything by Toni Morrison, Barbara Kingsolver, or Sherman Alexie

Aviv's favorite music includes the Beatles, J.S Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, Schonberg, Reich, Queen, and the Beach Boys.

Parthy likes Phil Ochs, Tracy Chapman, Dar Williams, and John McCutcheon, as well as French hip hop and Israeli stuff.

Movies: Dr. Strangelove, American Beauty, The Band's Visit, What Would Jesus Buy, The Syrian Bride, Maria Full of Grace.

We are also in the midst of watching all seasons of the Sopranos from beginning to end. You are invited to join us.

Aviv has composed a lot of musical pieces - mostly chamber music.

Parthy has taken a literary Arabic class for native Arabic speakers, despite not being one.
