ABOUT ME

I am inflexibly flexible, full of contrasts and sometimes I can be really funny!
In December 2012 I came back from a two-year travel adventure. I travelled over land and water from The Netherlands to the United Arab Emirates. From there, I took a flight to India and then I spent a year in India and Nepal. Riding a motorbike, a Royal Enfield of course!
From November 2017 to January 2018 I spent 2 1/2 months of traveling in Central-America. I went to Honduras and Nicaragua for a month, then I picked up my girlfriend Juul (https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/1005493994) in Honduras. Together, we visited Guatemala and totally enjoyed the natural beauty of that place.
I am passionate about cooking, but only vegetarian and vegan food. I work 2 days a week in the best vegetarian restaurant in The Hague, I am the sous-chef overthere. In summertime, I have another job at the beach, not as a chef though. Ask me about it, I will be happy to tell you what it is. I kind of consider myself an urban hippie, haha! I love working as a cook, but I love free time even more, so I try not to work too much. I just make enough money for living and saving some coins for my travels. Maybe I am a bit lazy!? I like that! I'm not nocturnal at all, I mostly go to bed early.
Also, I am a football/soccer fan. I like to watch games on TV and when I have the opportunity, I go to the stadium. I even go to England sometimes, where I can find the purest football passion.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately, I am not able to host couchsurfers at the moment, so sorry about that. Because normally when I am not travelling, I try to offer a couch so other people can have cheap (free) accommodation. Save money and spend it on something fun! So if I have a couch available, I don't mind when I am being used as a hostel. Of course it is nice if there is a click between us, and we can get to know eachother a bit. In Iran I learned what hospitality means, so don't worry, I will treat you as my special guest.
And when I am on the road, I enjoy being hosted for the same reasons: establish a deeper connection with my hosts, the joy of sharing food and having free accommodation.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I usually meet genuine people who make me feel welcome and comfortable. I usually have profound contact and that makes me happy.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I spent a week in a buddhist monastry where I had a kind of a "spiritual detoxification" from my addiction to marihuana. That really changed my life for the good!
And when I was travelling through Laos, I spent 4 days on a boat with 4 other travellers on the Mekong-river. We paddled to Luang Prabang. Experience of a lifetime!
When I traveled in India, I was the proud owner of a Royal Enfield on which I traveled for 10 months. It was a lot of fun and a lot of trouble!

I totally enjoy preparing and sharing FOOD. I work as a cook and as a traveler I am a total foodie! I am sure I can teach you something new when it comes to preparing vegetarian food. And when we meet, you HAVE to bring a vegetarian, local recipe from your place.
I love sharing conversations, silences, watching footballgames, laughs and tears, mindful hugs and meditation.

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

It would be my pleasure to hang out together and get to know you. Yet, I'm an independent guy and I am totally fine when I need to be on my own. I'm respectful towards the "rules" that apply in your house, I clean up after myself, I'm tidy when it comes to my sleeping space and I will definitely cook you up some yummy veg food.
