ABOUT ME

We are a Danish couple in our late twenties; Laerke (a.k.a. Lily) has just finished her BA in Southeast Asian Studies from University of Copenhagen, and Martin is working as a computer engineer.

We have just lived in Jakarta for 6 months as Lily was doing an internship at the Danish Embassy there. We have now relocated to Bangkok and are currently apartment hunting â

PHILOSOPHY

Uhm...just living life... Do what you enjoy and you'll probably end up a happy person.

We enjoy Sun, sand between our toes and umbrellas in our drinks! Plus the great outdoors, camping and feeling free...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ohh there has been so many already... feeling the true hospitality of the people in Syria – we got lost and ended up in someone’s backyard, somehow we stayed for 3 days and nights and loved every second of it!

Driving a small, red City Golf all the way through South Africa and Namibia, in the end it died way up high in Namibia – but what an adventure!

Celebrating Eid in Oman with our new family, cow slaughtering, henna painting, lots of warm hearts and way toooo much beef :)

Sitting under the moon in the desert of Namibia with the San people seeing them dancing and singing as they have done for so many years, and hearing their stories of how hard life is now a days where all the animals are gone…

Climbing Snow Mountain in Taiwan with our gang of Taiwanese friends – gorgeous scenery!

The hustle and bustle of Balinese temples, the flowers, all the colors, the incense. We were surrounded by dear friends, and being invited time after time to pray with the locals was a true privilege.

Staying in Hoi An in Vietnam long enough to see past all the touristy stuff and getting a feel for this old beauty and its wonderful people.

Bringing my mom and my younger siblings to India to have them share the travelling life with us for 5 weeks as we backpacked through the South, it was a fantastic experience for all of us, and my mom is saving up for all of us to hit the road again someday together.

Other highlights include seeing the sun rising over Bagan in Myanmar, swimming with dolphins in Indonesia, getting licked by the raw tongue of a cheetah, finding your own beach with crystal clear water and snorkeling right of the beach in Malaysia, getting close to the dragons of the Komodo Island, horseback riding in beautiful Kyrgyzstan and sleeping in a geer, admiring the ancient medrassas of Uzbekistan, road trip in Bali, snorkeling with Manta rays etc.

We are eager to make this list much longer!
