ABOUT ME

I:
... had a motorcycle and tried to fix it, but I stick to bicycles now.
... moved to Austin two years ago, love it.
... read leisurely.
... love learning new skills.
... laugh a lot when two-stepping.
... am trying to grow sprouts and herbs in my kitchen.
... ran a 10 mile trail race in March.
... welcome every opportunity to practice Spanish.
... love veggies AND appreciate a good bratwurst with sauerkraut.

PHILOSOPHY

Be good. Do right.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer a couch and a small bedroom to visitors from around the world who are traveling with young children (as my family has young children as well). We hope to engage in conversations with our guests and learn how to travel with our own young kids in tow in a couch-surfing manner (which I did as a single woman and as a couple... but with kids, it's a whole 'nother ball game).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I...
- made my first corn tortillas while couch surfing with a family in rural Guatemala.
- saw others pray by living with some Catholic nuns for a week.
- wrote on a chalkboard while living with friends of friends and teaching English in Cusco for a month.
- heard about Turkish military machines while couchsurfing in New Orleans.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learning about the stars during a hilarious and informative lightshow at the McDonald Observatory, and then staying awake as much as I could the next night while sitting on the South Rim of Big Bend.

Watching my neighbor's kid hula hoop.

Watching my own kids grow.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can have imaginary tea parties with the best of them; my husband is good at structured learning, but I consider myself quite excellent at imaginary play!
