ABOUT ME

The simple things in life are what make my heart dance. I adore people and one of my dreams is to travel the world. I want to meet all types of people from all different cultures and build up some great friendships.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa, a beautiful place filled with so much vibrancy, life and diversity, though I am originally an English gal. I’m a Libra, which makes me incredibly indecisive, idealistic, slightly impulsive and romantic.

I’m most happy when snuggled up in bed reading a good book, with my beautiful friends or just dipping my feet in the ocean or a river. I enjoy nature and the outdoors, especially places that have rock pools. I drink far too much tea, and love painting, history, music and writing. I’m also a bit of a sucker for second hand clothing and seem to have a bit of a bad habit – buying very hideous vintage dresses that cost me a bloody fortune (a fortune in terms of a student budget). If your granny wore it, I want it :D

I am a great believer in respect and tolerance and believe these qualities are the way forward. I hate nastiness and am looking to meet wonderful people who radiate love and peace :) I believe life is about LOVING others, and opening up to the endless things the world has to offer. Even if its just a moment that makes you smile

At the moment I am doing a BA degree at the University of Cape town and am majoring in English and Drama. I have also applied to do an exchange programme and will either be studying in Amsterdam, Sweden or Canada for a few months. I think my main dream is to really do some soul-searching, to learn about the diversity of the world and to connect with people from all sorts of places.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've only become a member recently, and can only start actively involving myself next year. However, I think this can provide so many beautiful and possibly even life changing experiences. Life's made up of little moments, so even if meeting someone new changes a small moment of your life in a meaningful way its worth it :)

Books: I adore reading and am at my happiest when snuggled up with a good book. My favourites include The Prophet, The Beach, The Shadow of the Wind, A thousand splendid sons, The Kite Runner, The Colour Purple, Down and out in Paris and London, Northanger abbey, The Buddha of suburbia and anything by Dorothy Parker.

In terms of movies I am a little mad about musicals such as the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Grease. I also love a good horror (especially stuff by Rob Zombie). A few of my favourite movies include Natural born Killers, Tank Girl, Sid and Nancy, Once Were Warriors,Casablanca, Brief Encounter and True Romance :)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I went to a village in the Eastern Cape of South Africa in the Transkei called Bulungula. Although it is one of the poorest communities in South Africa the people are so vibrant and filled with so much life and Character. I was able to participate in a Sangoma ceremony (traditional healers), which was absolutely unbelievable, and I stayed in the most incredible eco friendly lodge. Everything was solar or wind powered, there were rocket showers (you light the bottom and they make this mad rocket like sound and you are given hot water), cows and donkeys were roaming around freely, the beaches were almost untouched & the people were truly fascinating and so rich in culture. I was really able to do some soul searching whilst I was there and was able to connect within myself and with the beautiful, natural surroundings.

I also had a fantastic time in North India, traveling through the state of Rajasthan and Shimla (Very beautiful and located on the foothills of the Himalayas)where I did some research into my family history.
