About Me

So I'm not the typical cool guy from Couchsurfing who left his job to go around and travel the world. Neither am I very talented with music, nor would I consider myself a poet. Still, like most of the community here in Couchsurfing I love to travel, meet new people and I'd much rather go out and talk to a stranger about whatever comes to our minds instead of get old indoors in my house or an office.

I studied politics, and I work in a consultancy that does focus groups to improve policies in a lot subjects (like teenage pregnancy or public administration). Aside from my job I also like to travel to different places and meet new people in my spare time. I have a lot of crafty hobbies like drawing, painting and embroidering, I like to party hard in clubs, but also have long talks indoors.

Hope you feel like hosting me or being host by me :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've used Couchsurfing occasionally to receive tourists, I love to show my hometown and country to those who wish to know more about it. I've also used Couchsurfing to stay in other cities at a lower price and with a better knowledge of local people. I really feel that the best way to sense a place and really get to know it is staying with local people.

Interests

I'm interested in political and social issues and I never miss a chance to get to know more about the places I visit, as narrated by the people who live in that place.

I'm also a huge consumer of culture, from visual art, to films, novels, historical spots, and the trendy (or not so much) places to visit. When I visit a place I like to know, first hand, what the sense of that place is. In that sense, when I receive a visitor I really try to present all of the places in Mexico city, from the nowadays trendy spots, to the most obscure underground places.

Also I love long talks about people, nowadays world, or those questions we never seem to get rid of about humanity and science

Music, Movies, and Books

Woody Allen, Ingmar Bergman, Christopher Nolan, Hitchcock.../ Portishead, Metronomy, Muse, Ella Fitzgerald, .../ Borges, García Márquez, Kafka, George R.R. Martin,....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I can think of right now is going to Oaxaca and swimming in the night in the lagoon of Manialtepec. It has this weird thing that makes it shine during the night when you move the water. It is like swiming in the stars.

Also, while visiting Chile my bus got stuck in the middle of the Andes mountains, and I got down of the bus, I saw this absolute darkness around me, and it wasn't until I look up to the sky that I found out it was the darkness caused by the shadows of the gigantic mountains around me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think that the biggest thing I can share with my hosts is the experiences I've had traveling. Mi job is essentially to listen to peoples opinion and to construct stories about what they tell me. This has allowed me to known a lot of opinions on different subjects, and also it has allowed me to know different stories. I like to listen to people and create stories not only on my work, but also in my life. I think that gives me a lot I can share.

Also, as a crafty person I can teach a bit of that to my hosts, and last but not least, I may be not an expert but I have Mexican food in my veins and I can teach a bit of that (and latino dance movements)
