About Me

I have been living in CDMX for over 4 years now. I love los barrios populares and strive to support projects of autonomy, autogestion, decentralization, self-sustainability, rebeldia, libertación colectiva.

Before Mexico i was in Norwood, Colorado. My close friend Leila and I bought land out there, enacted various projects: bike kitchen, hack space, food coop, sustainable garden/farm, and various other community projects. In the end it didnt work out for me and I went to travel Mexico. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with the culture and now I only leave when I have to.

PHILOSOPHY

The earth is ruled by a psychopathic few, who control an insane and brutally oppressive system. I want to organize and rebel, not complain in hopes our rulers will listen. I want to know people and together demonstrate that a more beautiful and free world is possible and necessary. We can create that world, defend it and expand it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Network through traveling. Sharing news, ideas, tactics, mutual aid, stories, skills... Participating and supporting local projects, cooking, cleaning, painting, building. I love gardening, fixing bikes, and juggeling, all of wihich i can teach a bit as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was looking for a ride to the west coast on craigslist for me, my girlfriend, and dog; and i stumble on an ad like : Looking for Adventure? Im doing a documentary on couchsurfing.com for my collage thesis and i need subjects. So i will take you anywhere you want to go, in my car, for 5 days, and you have to find a different host for every night and be video taped 24/7.
This was all pretty short notice so we hit the road with no solid place for the first night. We go west out of denver on I-70 to a cafe in glennwood springs to check for any CS responses. Inside i strike up a conversation with a girl behind a laptop. "Are you on couch surfing?" i ask. "Um, yes actually" she replies. We went to the free hot springs by the highway, and crashed on a huge soft bed. We continued on staying in SLC, Caldwell, and 2 nights in portland. I have still yet to see that film.

Interests

Politics (or the end of them), current events, history, photography, alternative living, the arts, outdoor adventuring, bikes, interesting people, decentralized networks, recycling, health and traveling of course.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One month blockading a road to the Agua Zarca dam project with the Rio Blanco community and COPINH. Berta vive!
Crammed handcuffed into a paddy wagon with 6 activists sweating pepper spray into our eyes for hours. As bladders fill, complete strangers take turns helping eachother to un-zip, pull out, put back and re-zip. Talk about mutual aid!
A small tornado (water spout) passed through me pulling water all the way to the clouds.
Catching out.
That one time the cops ran from us instead of vice-versa

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn more about cooking, gardening, sailing, building, primitive skills, appropriate technology, radio, hack / make... I have experience in many things, just like everyone else, and exchanging those with others is almost an obligation. I know a lot about alternative styles of living that i love to share with people. I volunteer most places i go and i would love to volunteer in your community. I know all about fixing bicycles and some basic open source computer stuff, some video editing, basic electric. At home we have an open community workshop, garden food, keep chickens and goats, harvest wild food, and many other things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Bike fixing expertize, juggling 101, my unorthodox world view, cooking skills, dish cleaning pro, gardening, animal care (i can milk cows and goats too), child care (worked a year teaching preschool, and i have volunteered with kids in various other places around the world), im pretty good at shoveling and moving things (when my back is healthy), general fix it stuff, elite shack builder, and im a urban foraging guru :)
