I took my first solo trip to the most unexpected of places - Japan - and I knew instantaneously that I was onto something. 40 countries and 10 years later my spirit and passion for solo travel has grown exponentially.

I love exploring new cultures and new cuisines. I am an advocate for slow travel, local food and CouchSurfing.
After being lovingly hosted by strangers in different countries and having hosted some very interesting people myself, I can say that I love this community!

I am working on a series of blogs called People are nice, based on my travels around the world. I would love to share some of my stories over some local food or a walk around the neighbourhood.

My other passion is weddings. I am a certified wedding planner and founded my own company The JoySmiths. Our tag line is “Spreading joy for the love of it” and I live by it. I have now set sights on merging my two passions - traveling and weddings.

What I've learned from my travels is that the simplest of times brings the grandest of pleasures and the hardest goodbyes often lead to the best hellos. I've learned that crazy chances guide us to unexpected discoveries and that you have to hold onto your smile everyday to free yourself of things that make you frown :)
