About Me

CURRENT MISSION

*Enjoy life with a minimal environmental impact. *
Garden. Cook. Eat. Do Sport. Travel. Meet People. Laugh. :)

ABOUT ME

I'm a scientific researcher, working in chemistry, living in Lévis, close to Quebec city and I (proudly!) grew up in Gaspésie, also in the province of Quebec. I lived in Clermont-Ferrand, France in 2010 for a university semester and 6 months in 2014 in Karlsruhe, Germany for a doctoral internship. Of course, I also enjoyed travelling around Europe during these two trips. To describe myself in few words, I would say that I'm an open-minded, friendly, rational, scientific, animal and nature loving, flexitarian, truly ecological, and generous person. I am also very serious when needed, but I normally prefer trying to take it easy, relax, have fun and laugh. :)

I often travel with my boyfriend, which also studied chemistry and who is currently working in the same chemistry company than me. He was born in France and now, he lives in Quebec since 2012. (Check out his profile : https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/2003794858)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Up to now, I almost exclusively surfed in Europe, but I really look forward to surf in other countries/continents and also to share and discover by hosting people at home, and by showing them Quebec, our culture, language, food, winter and snow... ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In 2014 was my first Couchsurfing experience. I was travelling alone around Europe and surfed in Croatia, Italia, Slovenia and Belgium. That was awesome ! I find couchsurfing spirit great since a while, but after experiencing it for three weeks and meeting amazing people, I got really convinced !

Interests

- SCIENCES : Of course, chemistry, but all sciences in general. I like to understand the world, nature and phenomena and to lead people understanding it too.

- ENVIRONMENT : I am a very ecological person, interested in organic farming, permaculture, low-tech, degrowth/anti-consumerism, social and environmental issues and sensibilizing people to it. I am not idealistic at all, I am frustrated about people (and politicians!) concerning environment most of the time, but I am sometime very happy to see positive changes, even small ones ! This gives me some faith in humanity (CS experiences and meeting people are also great for that!)

- TRAVELLING (not being a tourist!) : I traveled in Canada, USA, Europe and Japan up to now, but I can't name all the places I would like to travel in !

- GARDENING, COOKING... and EATING: I truly LOVE food, from growing vegetables from the seed to learning how to cook everything by myself (bread, pasta and yogurt for example) with basics ingredients, especially vegetarian food, experiencing international cuisine, discussing with people while having dinner, at home, around a BBQ or at a local restaurant... And it's fundamental for me to experience local food when travelling !

- SPORTS : I enjoy swimming and playing Basket-Ball since I am kid, but I also do hiking, skiing, bicking, yoga and play volley-ball, tennis and more !

I also like listening music (Rock, Classical, Jazz, Blues and more...), play board games and of course, to meet people with different culture and languages !

I would also loved to learn speaking much more languages (and to talk much better German!), and playing music, violon or transverse flute (Yeah, I didn't choose the easiest one!), but I didn't had enough time yet...! Since many years, I also want to do humanitary work, somewhere in the world... but I'm still not settled down when, where to go and which kind of work...
