About Me

I'm a curious person, talkative (sometimes too much) and I fell in love with travelling a bit too much for my own good.

A friend once shared Vivian Greene's philosophy with me:
"Life's not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

I've been roaming the planet with this one for a few years now: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/mark-curtis-4

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's a wonderful way to get to know a place through a local's eyes.

After having hosted every now and then in our place in Melbourne, my partner and I can't wait to see a bit more of the globe through Couchsurfing.

Interests

Traveling, languages, music, chocolate (yes that counts as an interest!) and most of all meeting people from all over the world and sharing amazing moments with them, be it just a drink at the fireplace or enjoying breathtaking views from some remote temple in the jungle...

Music, Movies, and Books

I like movies of many different kinds of genres from the epic ones to the documentaries (including in between movies like american history x) and almost the same goes for music, though I dislike house, trance, electro, and Swiss folk songs. The rest is more or less what I listen to. Bands I currently like a lot are The Foo Fighters, Lake Street Dive, Foster the People, Kodaline, Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons and Pearl Jam.

When it comes to books I’m open to many genres, including entertaining books on history, some fiction and the odd classic by Orwell and Dickens.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Far too many to name...but one thing that I find amazing is to see that wherever you go and despite all the differences in culture, mentalities, life styles etc. when it comes down to feelings we are all equals.

And, spending the night with nomads in their yurt in the grasslands of Tibet.

Teach, Learn, Share

There is not much for me to teach yet - ask me again when I'm old and wise ;) but I enjoy exchanging life stories with other travelers and I would love to learn surfing. The one with the surfboard and the waves.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Once I get a new chocolate machine, let's make chocolates.
