About Me

I am a freelance technologist and musician from Mexico City.
I am single and have a small daughter.
I have a progressive rock band called SOMA, where I compose and play bass guitar and a little bit of guitar and backing vocals.

Professionaly, I work as a Creative Technologist and UI designer.
What does this mean? I search for ways to develop creative and innovative ways to interact with technologic media. Mainly I try to conceive ways to engage humans through computer interaction.
Mostly I develop and design web/mobile applications and websites.

As a musician, I have recorded a bunch of stuff and participated on several artistic and entertainment shows and performances along 10+ career years.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been host of some foreign visitors in the past. I really enjoyed spending time with new people, from different cultures , languages and ideologies.
Also I´m interested in traveling across Europe, Asia and South America.
Nowadays I´m interested in learning new languages (currently I´m learning Japanese and some French), so I think CouchSurfing is a good opportunity to find people around the world, with whom I can practice languages and share the same principles and desires. I´m enthusiastic about host new people and being hosted too.

Interests

I´m very curious and enthusiastic. But my main interest always end up around music (I´m a musician), technology, swimming, and reading.

Music, Movies, and Books

I´m a music lover. My father is a musician and so do I since my early ages.
I play bass guitar and some drums. Also a little of guitar and cello.
My favorite music genre is, definetly, Progressive Rock. I love classic prog bands such as Genesis, Yes, ELP, Rush, Asia, etc... I like too, Jazz/Rock Fusion, going from Weather Report to Liquid Tension Experiment.

I´m also passionate about book and reading. Although I don´t have enough time to read as much as I would like, I spend most of my freetime reading. I like biographies, science books, and sci-fi novels. Anyways, I would read almost anything that comes into hand.

About movies... I really enjoy them. They are an important source of inspiration for many of my ideas and creative concepts, either personal or professional.
I enjoy movies from directors such as, Lars Von Trier, Akira Kurozawa, Darren Aronofsky, Cohen Brothers, Jean-Pierre Jaunet, David Lynch, among others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I´m new to wonderful life of traveling. But, my first international trip was to Japan.
It was an amazing experience. All the Japanese stuff I´ve enjoyed since a child, from cartoons to video games, technology and cinema, suddenly made sense after a month of experiencing their culture and lifestyle.
That trip turned my life upside down and decided to explore more about the world´s culture, sightseeing, nature and history.

I have recorded some records and played in a variety of shows like Circus, Musical Theater and Performances.

Maybe, finally, for me, one of my greatest achievements was to enter the world of swimming, participating in some open waters marathons.

Teach, Learn, Share

Since highschool, I´ve been a self-taught person. I believe I´m a very fast learner.
I love to teach, despite I´ve had a limited chance to do it.
I´m confident I can be useful teaching Spanish language, and technology related stuff, mainly web development and programming. Also I can teach and share my experience as a musician.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe I´m an easy going person. I´m interested in cultural exchange and making new friends and connections around the globe.
Surely, I could, and would love to be your host too!
