About Me
Ilse and Reinhart are no longer a couple. You can find our individual couchsurfing profiles on:
Ilse:
Reinhart: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/reinhart-appels
We both love camping in a minimalistic way, so we can fully enjoy nature. Drinking water from a stream, cooking whatever we can find in a local store, and pitching a tent where there are no neighbors. Enjoying the wind, the view and the mosquito's.
We are Reinhart & Ilse, a Belgian couple:
Ilse :
age : 33
profession : Consultant (ICT)
Education : Master in Computer Science
Reinhart:
age : 39 (but I feel 22 years old ;-)
Education : Master in Energy
We are both non-smokers.
Some time ago we radically changed our diet to a Whole Food Plant Based diet (a form of vegan diet). We don't mind meat eating guests, however, we don't like meat, fish, eggs or dairy be prepared inside our home.
Please keep in mind that our day usually starts around 5am and ends around 10pm.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We've met lots of interesting people through couchsurfing. We haven't been active on Couchsurfing for a few years now, because we moved a lot, but finally we settled down and are ready to have guests again.
Interests
Reinhart : nature & technology, passionate about energy alternatives, healthy nutrition, permaculture, adventurous traveling (bicycling, walking)
Ilse : traveling, bicycling, walking, reading, swimming, pilates, playing the guitar, ...
We like to meet interesting, open minded people.
One day, we would like to move to a spacious terrain, and build our own house powered by renewable energy (solar, wind, water, rocket stove, wood gasification,...), where we can live in harmony with nature, guided by the permaculture principles.
Things we want to do/achieve in our lifetime:
- We would like to learn as much as possible to live our life as self sustainable and in harmony with nature as possible. Like learning how to weld, how to repair bikes and learning to improve our cooking. Experimenting with hydroponics.
- Traveling as much as possible
- Have kids one day
- and last but not least, I want to grow old with Ilse and get an old wrinkle face full of laugh-lines :-D
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the summer of 2004, I drove on my recumbent bike all around Scotland (from Edinburgh, to Isle of Skye, to the Orkney Islands and back to Edinburgh). On the Isle of Skye I had a small accident and broke my bike. I got help from a local car-technician, who fixed my bike. I asked him "what do I ow you?" And he told me "pass it on to someone else". And since then... that's just what we do.
