Hi there folks,

Please accept my apology. This is something off topic but I hope you'll indulge me with my inquiries.

I am based in IA and I am thinking of moving to Charlotte next month Are there studio or 1BR apartments in Charlotte or nearby (like 15-mile drive) within the price range of 500-700?

I'd very much appreciate your feedback. You can also send me a private message. So that it would not flood the discussion board.

Hi Jun,

There are some newly renovated studio apartments near the plaza midwood area (about 2 miles from uptown) called Aurora Apartments. They are renting for about $700. I enjoyed living there because of the location...close to about everything you need. The only downside were the thin walls from being an older building.

We have a small brick duplex 2 bedroom 1 bath on each side in the Wilmore Neighborhood very close to Dilworth that we lease out for $695 per month. Its close to the Light Rail and within sight of uptown. When it becomes available it rents in literally hours because its so close to uptown, and I think people like a wooded yard. So not sure how good those apartments are that are at only $700 in Plaza Midwood which is also a great neighborhood.

Hola Charlotte party peoples, I hope all is well with all of you! I've been meaning to visit Charlotte for a while but have yet to get around to it (I live in Columbia, SC), but as of this weekend I will be visiting a friend in Charlotte to check out his new home! (BOOYAH!...anyways) I was just wondering if anyone had good recommendations for either coffee places or possibly hookah bars in Charlotte to check out (or anything artsy as well). If you do, let me know cause I really wanna check out what Charlotte has to offer! Danke Shaaane!

Red Sea is an Ethiopian place (small hole in the wall, but awesome food) that will do a coffee ceremony where they roast the beans right there and it's pretty bad ass. They have hookah there too. This isn't a party place, but really good food and the owners are very cool.

There are a few other hookah places in town but I don't know them well enough to recommend or not.

The Istanbul Hookah Lounge which is the Metropolitan Cafe during the day in Uptown Charlotte is a nice location that's close to other bars and clubs if you decide to go elsewhere to continue an awesome night out. It is also close to some of the cheap(er) parking.

Amelie's is my absolute favorite coffee shop in charlotte! They make fresh and homemade pastries and desserts that will blow your mind. There are two locations but I would recommend the one on north Davidson as this is the artsy part of charlotte (there is also a hookah bar directly behind Amelie's, haven't been but have heard wonderful things, can't quite remember the name. Continue north on north Davidson past Amelie's and you'll find yourself in NoDa, a very artsy nrighborhood with fantastic food and nightlife. Plaza midwood just around the corner is would also be right up your alley.

Hey couchsurfing!
My friend and I are headed to Charlotte, NC for a short trip in January. I was wondering what are some of your favorite places to visit, things to do and/ or see, places to eat, etc. Any suggestion would be awesome! Thank you :)

Hi Emilio,

Uptown (what we call downtown): Epicenter (has bars, clubs, food, movie theatre) Also uptown are Museums, and more food.

Noda (a district near uptown, very artsy. Amelie's... a Fench bakery is located there and is 24 hours; pretty famous in Charlotte!)

Plaza Midwood/Central Ave area (also artsy and has great food and bars!)

Restaurants I recommend:
Cowfish (sushi/ burger sushi restaurant. So good! Near South Park mall--great mall!)
Vapianos (Italian restaurant and bar-- really eclectic and yummy! Also uptown)
Big View Diner
Cabo Fish Taco (in Noda)

VBGB is one of my favorite spots in Charlotte. It's a bar, but it's unlike any bar you've been to! Also has good food. I'd recommend going on a Friday or Saturday night.

Hope that helps!

Hi Emilio!

The downtown area is pretty small but it's a great walk! If you do take a walk I would recommend starting at Johnson and Wales university and working your wAy in.

Uptown recommendations:

Little village grill - delicious, low price Greek food!

Tilt - hole in the wall bar, always a good time.

Black Finn - bar/restaurant, good food, in the evening the bar downstairs is good for hanging out and talking, upstairs there is a DJ incase you wAnt to get your dance on.

Central/mid wood plaza:

So many little shops to visit!

Three amigos - reAlly good Mexican tacos! If you like hotter salsa, ask for their green sauce.

The diamond - great diner food

Landmark diner - crazy awesome desert. Also huge and yummy breakfast for cheap.

Cajun queen - I don't even know what to say. Soooo good.

University area:

Ishi - delicious hibachi and sushi.

Flying saucer - so much beers, so much delicious food.

Other charlotte must eats:

Lang vans: Vietnamese...outta this world pho. Closed on Mondays

Ru sans: mon thru Friday they have a cheap but delicious sushi buffet. Beware that it's always pretty packed for lunch.

Charlotte also has some really great greenways. Really beautiful walks.

Crowders mountain is only about 40 outside of charlotte and really worth the drive and hike for the excellent view at the tippy top!

The white water center also has hiking trails and other great activities.

If you want to check out some thrifting possibilities...check out sleepy poet and the old gin mill (the depot). They won't disappoint!!

I hope these suggestions help!
