hi guys!
I just came to Tampa from Paris and Im completely lost in here, I cannot find good restaurants or places to visit that won't cost a lot of money!
Im looking for affordable restaurants with healthy food, french restaurants, asian, seafood or any other restaurants you can recommend!
Also Im looking for advice about what can you do around here? I've been here since 3 months but I find it very difficult to meet the people, because everyone seems to spend their free time at malls or on a beach.
I'm living in the Carrollwood/Westchase area, but I have a car.
Thank you, I looking foward to hearing from you!

A couple more suggestions of cheap, good food near your area. I used to live by there, I'm by South Howard now (which is more expensive).

- Saigon Deli (Vietnamese)
- Lola's Mexican Cravings
- Golden Phoenix (Chinese)
- Siam Thai
- Surf Shack (American/Mexican)
- Desi Tadka (Indian)

I would def be interested in a CS meetup. I went to one of those in Chattanooga last week and it was a lot of fun. Keep me posted if you organize one.

If you're in the Carrollwood area, Simply Pho and Sushi Alive are good choices.

Hey Justyna! Not sure if this is too late of a reply, but i live in Carrollwood as well and love Evos (healthy, baked fast food), moes has the besstt queso, chipotle mexican grill, pdq, pei wei, red robin (best chicken tenders ad fries in the entire world). The list goes on and on, also in downtown tampa they do yoga on saturday mornings at curtis nixon park (beautiful view) not sure if you're into fitness. Fell free to ask anymore questions! :) Hope this helped at least a little! Hope you're enjoying Tampa so far.

Hello all,

I'm going to visit Clearwater and florida, so I have question. Do I need carry my passport with visa constantly with me? Is it not enough international driver licence in order to confirm my personal data in case of police check or sth.? I'm asking because this is very important document, and i don't wanna lose it.

Thanks for answer,

Marc Kaufman , Wesley Chapel, USA, 2 months ago

My understanding from traveling in other countries is that the passport is usually required to be shown along with the international driver's licence. The licence itself is not considered to be adequate ID as it is usually not issued directly by the government of the country where it was issued. Also, it does not show that you are authorized to be in the country which you are visiting, as the passport and visa do.

You should make a copy of the ID and visa pages of your passport and store them separately from the passport both while traveling and in a specific area. That way, you have a means to demonstrate that you had these items to the proper authorities (your state dept for passport, and US immigration for visa) should your passport be lost. Just try to be cautious and methodical about what you do with your passport and it shouldn't be a problem.

Szymon Starowicz , Krakow, POL, 2 months ago

I'll do that. Thanks a lot for your advice.

It is perfectly acceptable to make a copy of the identification and visa page of your passport, and carry that with your driver's license. That way, you can lock your passport up in a safe place.

I can't believe how expensive car rentals are in Tampa! $1,000 for 8 days?!

SaintPeteResident , Saint Petersburg, USA, 2 months ago

I had to check to believe. $800 for rental and almost $200 just for fees. You must had used the airport as the pick-up and drop-off point. I tried a location outside of airport and it's a lot cheaper, like about 1/4 the airport's cost; $223 + $42 fee.

I am interested in buying some cheap land in a suburb of Tampa to create an orchard. My budget is around $20,000. Thanks for any info.

Nelson Nunez , Riverview, USA, 2 months ago

Charlie I'm sorry to say but for that money you won't get much near tampa. You may want to look in plant city, Lakeland or Ruskin to see if maybe you can find an acre at that price but it will be pretty remote from Tampa, 45 min if your lucky.

Charlie McCollum , Waverly, USA, 2 months ago

Thanks, I live near a small town, Auburn, Al, so I wasn't aware. I want to go where it is warm year round and also be near a decent size nice city.

Alan Petzold , St Petersburg, USA, 2 months ago

Charley you need to turn that $20k into $250K
Now you have something to start with.
If you are willing to do the Paperwork you can get lots of funding.
You need a passion for it. That's it.
I have a free seminar (in St. Petersburg FL area) that shows you how to do this.

Its like going to class.
Email if you are interested and I will send you the info.

Hey everyone! I am currently a college student in Wisconsin but I'll be graduating in about a year and I'm looking to move south (I've been planning to for quite awhile). But I wanted to hear if the Tampa area is a good place to live? Are there areas with good cost of living, good school districts, etc? Is the weather unbearably hot and humid all summer? And any other input about living in the area or Florida in general that you think I should know! Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

Tara Franklin , Thonotosassa, USA, 2 months ago

It is unbearably hot, the only reasonably priced places are SUPER GHETTO and usually slum lords, Pasco county, just north of us, is MUCH BETTER! Not to sound discouraging, I have grown up here and wouldn't recommend it honestly...

Troy Hurst , Waukesha, USA, 2 months ago

Thank you for letting me know! It's nice to hear how a place actually is from someone who has grown up there as compared to just what you hear in the news/see on TV. Much appreciated!

Leon Hartsock , Tampa, USA, about 1 month ago

I went to Mukwonago High School in 1999. I live in New Tampa and its fairly pricey but a nice area. Summer sucks but good for the swimming pool and beach.., winter is nice and cruise around with the tops off the car. Pasco is cheaper and is blowing up.. Actually think it was the fastest growing county in the U.S. a couple years ago which is likely since it use to be cow pastures near now house, now its malls, and hospitals, and tons of everything else. School districts in New Tampa are good. Colleges in Florida are generally good. Most high schools in Florida are horrible.
