About Me

I grew up in Kourou French Guiana, rocked by the space rocket launches and the sound of the rainforest animals. I have there met people from all around the globe and since then my curiosity for people and foreign cultures keeps growing. After few years living in France I went to Canada to finish my studies in Aerospace engineering. Since then I have been working for a Satellite building company in Montreal.

I'm social, joyful, and truly devoted to my friends. I like to smile to people in the street, watch circus shows, stroll through museums and spend time with my friends simply sipping a beer on a terrasse or planning next adventures. I feel blissed when surrounded by nature, even if I enjoy the energy and the possibilities of the city, especially Montreal where the vibe, the infinite diversity of events, the parks and the hidden tiny alleys make me feel at home. I really enjoy my job, but very often a different part of myself yearn for a life of travels and greater adventures.

I am now traveling with my girlfriend, CS profile: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/rosal-y

My Interests:
I grew up in Amazonia so I have and I will always have a special attachment to the rainforest and its atmosphere. Since my family comes from the Pyrénées in south of France, the second part of myself belongs to the mountains. Hence my interest for mountaineering, rock climbing, slacklining, building forest huts and fishing. More recently, I’ve been really interested in sailing and diving. I like to dance! A lot! (I was trained by Latin rhythms all my childhood)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Over the years (without being on CS), I was already having the CS spirit, since I have been hosting so many different people; friends, friends of friends, and complete strangers referred by friends or family members. I keep very good memories of these shared moments. CS is a good way to keep up with this sharing momentum.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m listening to diverse kind of music depending on my mood, I’m really moved by percussions and I regret not to have learned before but nothing’s to late!

I used to watch lots of movies but since few years I devoted less and less time to it. I enjoy movies from directors Alessandro Ignarritu, Ken Loach, Pedro Almodovar, Gregg Araki, Woody Allen, Jacques Audiard and many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I launched my name in space! (on an orbiting satellite).

I've been hosted by a shepherd on a 3600meters high plateau (laguna de los pozuelos) in Argentina. We shared a meal and he hosted me for a night, where I slept on the wool of a sheep. I then learned what sharing and generosity was about and what people can offer even with nothing more than a piece of bread and a hut.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’d love to enhance my creativity, to learn how to sail a boat by myself, to play better the guitar, to play percussions and to learn Portuguese.

I can teach you how to build a satellite! ... well not really but I can tell you how it works;)
I can show you how to climb a coconut tree or how to make the best (ever) dinosaurs imitation! you can otherwise choose between the sloth or the chicken.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Amazing vegan banana bread! (I take all the credit, but my girlfriend which whom I’m travelling is making them:))
