I'm planning to explore Takapuna and Devonport this weekend.. Saturday or Sunday (or both) depending of the weather...
Anyone wants to join me??
Pretty cool way to spend a day - if you're starting cityside, grab the ferry across to Devonport early on. Theres a cafe called the ferryman (I think) in the Devonport terminal that does a pretty good cinnamon hot chocolate to get you started - from there Mt. Vic is a good walk, so is North Head (the other hill further along) and that one has old tunnels & bunkers to explore.
Devonport isn't huge but there's plenty to see - once you're done, you can follow Lake Rd from the bottom of Mt. Vic to Takapuna - Narrow Neck Reserve is a nice stop along the way & has a little beach cafe :)

Mostly by bus and walking...
I don't know the place, so if you have any suggestion I'd be glad in accept it..

Hello! Could you recommend me a place to dance salsa and bachata here in Auckland?

I'd be interested in joining. I know Mexican cafe downtown but that gets crowded and I heard there's better places

Try "The Kingslander" in Kingsland, they have salsa nights on Wednesdays and they do classes too I think. I turned up on a Wednesday by accident a few weeks ago and ended up having a great time, great vibe and really friendly crowd.

My name is Joel and Im headed to NZ this December and hoping to push my limits and meet some awesome people along the way.
At home in Sydney I cycle a lot so i figured I would try my hand at mountain biking. I'm looking for advice on the best beginner trails in and around Auckland Rotorua Wellington or Queenstown. I wont have access to a car so I need to find somewhere that is easy enough to get to.
Additionally if there are any avid mountain bikers on here that would be willing to show me the ropes for a day I would be very grateful!

Give me a bell when your in. I have a few bikes. Based currently in Auckland but hopefully shifting to Whakatane. A little good riding around Auckland. Otherwise get down to Rotorua and Taupo. Rotorua having the best selection of world class single tracks in NZ.

ahh guts that no one reply as CS is pretty dead these days. I love mountain biking as well and there are a few cool tracks in the city. Try searching for couch surfing auckland group on facebook as well as there are way more people there :-)

Hi! I would like to get some infos about scuba diving near Auckland or on North Island. I would like to dive somewhere and i'm looking for a buddy with experience. Or if someone can just give me some tips that would be really appreciate :) thanks
It's mostly training around Auckland, like Lake Pupuke in Takapuna since it's quite deep in the middle so is used for lessons. For actual scuba sites you'd want to head further north, or towards the east coast.
Up north you have one of the top rated scuba sites in the world; Poor Knights marine reserve (reachable from Whangarei) a bit further north in Paihia you can dive to see the shipwrecks of the original Rainbow Warrior and HMNZS Canterbury, there is also an underwater cave.
Probably best asking around at one of the weekly drinks as there do seem to be a lot of divers and divemasters in the Auckland crowd, I know of one girl who is keen to do Poor Knights also and would probably welcome a dive buddy.
Hope this helps. :)

Visiting North Island from 15/09, and anyone got suggestions of things to do when it's raining?
