As the world’s most northerly capital city, Reykjavik is worth the trip. There is so much to see and do here, and the people of this city are creative and quirky. Start with a trip to Hallgrímskirkja, Iceland’s biggest church, and take the elevator to the top for an awe-inspiring view of Reykjavik and the landscape beyond. Then, make your way down to the harbor to chow down on insanely fresh seafood and visit the Harpa Concert Hall, a marvel of modern architecture with a honeycombed glass panel facade.

An absolute must-see for a trip to Reykjavik is a dip in the Blue Lagoon in nearby Grindavik. This is a geothermal spa located on a lava field, where the mineral-rich water lingers at a soothing 100°F. Feeling renewed, gear up for the Golden Circle Tour, which will take you to some of the unbelievable natural treasures of the Icelandic wilds like Thingvellir National Park, the Strokkur Geyser, and the incredible Gullfoss Waterfall. Don’t forget to bring your camera; there’s no way to describe the Icelandic landscape with words.
