Hi people for Bremen!

Coming Christmas holiday I will be visiting Bremen with a couple of fellow students from Utrecht (The Netherlands). None of us have ever been there, so we could use some tips by locals ;). What are nice places to have a drink/dance? I read that the 'disco meile' doesn't have a very good reputation. Can it be fun, nevertheless? And is there a club in Bremen we definitely need to check out? We prefer the more laid back places instead of the classy ones that require a total dress up.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Maarten

I would suggest Lila eule (close to Sielwall), it was a club which opened in the 50's and it doesnt need dress up, they have different music each night, just check their website to see what kind of music they have. http://lilaeule.jimdo.com/november-programm/

there are a lot of bars around. you can check out the Bermuda triangle area which has some bars around. Rum bumpers is a good option, Also fairfeld if you like drinking sitting in couches. wohnzimmer is pretty good too but loud music and crowded on weekends. if you cant find a place any where on a weekend head to lager haus, it has a huge bar there is always some space to hangout.

Also there are lot of kiosks (Avondshop) where you get cheep beer, usually on weekends sielwall is crowded and you can just hang out there.

All the fancy clubs are near the central station. Stubu is the most terrible club, but open almost every day, so head there when you are totally drunk at 4 am but still want to keep partying.

Dileep, I agree! Some additions:

- Heartbreak Hotel. It's that one bar which is still open when the sun rises. Amazing bartenders, rocknroll, stripper pole, another planet. Small location, sometimes strange people - I met one of my best friends there!

- If you want to visit the Neustadt, there are some nice bars too and they are not as crowded as the Viertel (sielwall etc.), so you can sit, enjoy good beer and meet new people. Maybe you want to start your evening there :)
I prefer the "Gondi" and the "Mono", both are in the Langemarckstraße. No need to dress up, alternative people, nice music. The "panama bar" and the "papp" are closer to the city centre - more hipsters there ;)

- The MS Treue is a boat and also a club! The partys there are mostly electro, but there are also concerts and I like the location a lot.

Anyway, veel plezier jongens. Bremen is echt geweldig :)

Hi Daniel, Usually for a running people prefer either BurgerPark or along the river, but there are a lot of parks that people also use for jogging.

Hi y'all,
since the awful weather I guess it's time to start scouting the best places for having a hot chocolate in Bremen!!!
Any advice for a fellow couchsurfer? ;-)

Lisa Lutz , Bremen, DEU, 2 months ago

"Wohnzimmer" in Viertel is really cosy and cafe "Radieschen" in Neustadt is great as well :)

Nadja Köppen , Bremen, DEU, 2 months ago

And in the Schnoor: Café Tölke, das Katzencafe (More like a restaurant, too) and Schröter's Chocolaterie!

Philipp Beck , Bremen, DEU, 2 months ago

The bar in the Cinema Ostertor is highly recommended for a hot chocolate!

In case you have some money to spend and high expectations, the Goethe Institute might be an option too.

There's Bottle Market on 21-23rd November. Is anyone familiar with this event? I would really like to go there, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.

Linus Beier , Kiel, DEU, 2 months ago

If the tastings are included in the entrance fee (7,50€) it sounds like a great event to me. But I haven't been there as well...

Jan Strzembosz-Pieńkowski , Bremen, DEU, 2 months ago

Exactly my thoughts, with tastings included it'd be great, but they're not clear about it on their site.

Maren Wolff , Hamburg, DEU, 2 months ago

hey Jan, the BOTTLE Market will be helt the first time, so I guess you will barely find someone who is familiar with the event :)
They just published some tastings on their German site:
www.bottle-market.de/bm/Sonntag_Tastings
my guess would be that you can also go to the exhibitors for tastings.
